Cutter's Bench is an independent multi-brand specialist retailer for cutting, shearing, and slicing tools. Our catalog currently covers 870 products from Opinel, OLFA, and Wüsthof, and every order is handled by our own trained staff from our Portland, Oregon warehouse and office. We are not an official site of any of the brands we carry; we are a specialist store that selects, stocks, and ships their products with clear support before and after the order.
Cutter's Bench is the customer-facing trading identity of Bench Row Trading LLC, an independent Oregon-registered limited liability company founded in 2018 and based at 142 Bench Row, Suite 3, Portland, OR 97205, United States. The company operates the storefront shown to customers: all page content, order handling, fulfillment oversight, and service commitments described on this site are performed by Bench Row Trading LLC. The storefront name is simply how customers know us.
The operating entity owns and runs every part of the business:
The company began as a small trade counter serving woodworking and culinary professionals before moving fully online. Today it runs a lean warehouse-and-office operation from its Portland address, where a small trained staff inspects, packs, and ships every order in-house. That trade-counter origin shaped our specialty: we built the catalog around cutting, shearing, and slicing tools because it is the category our team knows from daily work with the products themselves.
Our selection approach is deliberately narrow. Rather than listing everything available from a supplier, the catalog is built item by item: each model is chosen for a defined use case, duplicates within the same niche are removed, and the assortment is reviewed quarterly. Shoppers compare genuinely different options — a carbon-steel Opinel No. 08 Carbone against a stainless No. 08, a take-apart kitchen shear against a fixed one — instead of near-identical listings.
The team includes staff with hands-on experience in blade steel selection, edge maintenance, utility-knife blade systems, and kitchen cutlery. Every customer-facing answer is written or reviewed by someone who has handled the product line in question — including guidance on carbon-steel patina care, honing versus sharpening, and correct use of kitchen shears and sharpeners.
Our value approach is durable tooling at honest prices with long-term usefulness. Customers receive guidance on care and correct use so a purchase performs for years, and we favor fewer, better-documented products over impulse-driven volume.
A lower price at Cutter's Bench reflects operational efficiency, never a downgrade in goods. Our pricing rests on three structural factors:
Operational efficiency continues after goods arrive: in-house picking and packing avoids third-party fulfillment fees, a single low-overhead service desk replaces a call-center operation, and catalog and pricing systems are maintained internally, avoiding recurring platform licensing costs. Those savings are passed into pricing rather than overhead, so customers pay closer to true wholesale value on every item.
Coupon discounts and sitewide promotions are funded directly from our own operating margin — not from reduced-cost or second-quality stock. During a promotion such as our offer of 10% off eligible orders with code BENCH10, we temporarily accept a thinner margin, and the products shipped are the same stocked items sold at full price. Coupon eligibility follows checkout rules, and individual discount amounts depend on which items qualify at checkout.
Prices differ between items because each product has its own wholesale cost, steel and construction grade, and country of manufacture. Promotional windows, batch replenishment costs, and supplier price updates also cause legitimate small movements over time. A lower price here always means an efficiently sourced first-quality product — the price advantage and product authenticity are handled by the exact same sourcing and inspection process.
Every item shipped is a genuine, first-quality product of the brand named on its listing, acquired through that brand's authorized distribution, and shipped in the manufacturer's original packaging. If any item is ever shown not to meet this standard, we bear full responsibility.
Our sourcing standards make this possible: all stock is purchased exclusively through authorized distributors of the carried brands with full chain-of-custody documentation. No gray-market, refurbished-as-new, or unlabeled bulk lots are accepted, and supplier documentation is kept on file for every inbound batch.
Quality is checked at three points:
Before a product goes live, staff physically handle a sample unit and verify that the listing's specifications, blade or blade-system details, packaging description, and country of origin match the manufacturer's published information. Listings are re-verified whenever a supplier announces a revision.
Customers are encouraged to inspect the original factory packaging, embossed brand markings, etched blade stamps or printed blade codes, and included documentation on arrival. Any mismatch with the listing photos or the manufacturer's markings can be reported for immediate review.
A quality assurance specialist logs the claim and compares the submitted photos against archived batch records and listing samples. If photos are inconclusive, the customer is asked to keep the item and packaging while the distributor or manufacturer is consulted. A written determination, with the reasoning and remedy, is sent to the customer within the review window. If an authenticity concern is verified, the customer receives a full refund of the item price and any shipping fee paid, keeps or returns the item at the store's choice of prepaid arrangement, and receives written confirmation of the finding. Every report receives a documented written resolution — no claim is closed without a decision communicated to the customer.
Free shipping applies to orders over $45.00, and standard shipping is $8.00. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery. Warranty coverage follows the product information and support guidance provided with each item. Customer support is available by email at support@cuttersbench.shop, handled by our five specialist departments from the same Portland operation that packs and ships your order.
We would rather sell 870 well-documented products once each than push near-identical listings. A cutting tool bought here should still be cutting years from now, and our support should still be answering.
