The case is lovely and most knives were pristine. One of the No. 8s had some dark spotting on the carbon blade out of the box — likely just oxidation from storage and it cleaned up with some oil. Knocking a star for the inconsistency, but the set itself is good value.
I wanted to try Opinel without committing to one size, and this set was the ideal answer. Now I know I carry the No. 8 daily and keep the No. 12 for the garden. The display case means they don't end up in a drawer. Happy customer.
For the sale price this is honestly a steal — ten carbon steel knives and a wooden display case. The Virobloc locks work as expected on the larger sizes. The case latch feels a little lightweight, but it displays beautifully on a shelf and that's its main job.
