Yes. The carbon steel blade takes a keen edge for food prep, feather sticks, cordage, and camp chores, while the sub-4-ounce weight and No.12 size keep pack weight negligible. It handles bigger tasks than the No.08 and No.10 without the bulk of a fixed blade.
The No.12's longer blade covers bigger camp and kitchen tasks; the No.10 is the middle size for all-around carry. If you want one folder that does the most, choose the No.12.
Carbon steel develops a patina and must be wiped dry after use; a light oil coat prevents rust. The trade-off is superior edge sharpness and easy re-sharpening.
$13.18 vs. $26.35 saves you $13.17 – 50% off. Coupon code BENCH10 stacks an extra 10% off, and orders over $45 ship free.

A No.12 for thirteen bucks? Even with the minor cosmetic quirks of the Second Chance program, this is a fantastic knife. Blade came sharp, lock works perfectly, and it's feather-light for its size.
Cuts beautifully and takes a scary-sharp edge. Just remember to wipe it down and oil it, or it will patina (rust) on you. For camping food prep it's been great.
Big blade, tiny weight. Perfect camp companion.
I know some folks shy away from carbon steel, but I wanted this specifically. Within a week of apple slicing it developed this gorgeous gray-blue patina that makes it feel like an heirloom. The No.12 is big enough for real camp kitchen work but still slips into a jeans pocket. Virobloc lock gives me confidence using it for heavier tasks. At $13.18 this is one of the best deals in knives, period.
There's a small mark on the handle that I assume is why it was in the Second Chance sale. Doesn't bother me at all. Functions flawlessly.
One for me, one for my dad, one for the tackle box. At this price you'd be silly not to. All three arrived sharp with solid locks.
Great slicer and very light, but carbon steel demands care. If you're lazy about knife maintenance, get the stainless version instead.
My first two Opinels lasted over a decade of hard use. This Second Chance one showed up with barely visible wear and a perfect edge. Folding mechanism is smooth and tight. I keep it in the camper for everything from kindling to sandwich duty.
I know it's final sale, but the cosmetic flaw on mine was more noticeable than I hoped. Works fine though, so three stars would be unfair — call it a caution to set expectations.
I carry this around the farm daily. Cuts twine, opens feed bags, trims grafts. Holds an edge well for the price. Only note: it's a two-handed opener, which took adjusting.
