The meticulously serrated, curved edge saws through crusty artisan loaves without crushing the crumb, powers through tough melon rinds and squashes, and handles cakes, cheeses, and dense vegetables. A daily-driver bread knife for home chefs.
Full tang construction extends the blade steel through the end of the handle for increased strength on demanding cuts and balanced weight for better ergonomics. Sandvik 12C27 is one of the highest quality steels available — excellent edge retention, simple maintenance, and high corrosion resistance for high-use kitchen knives.
Yes — serrated edges can be maintained with a ceramic or tapered sharpening rod, working each serration individually on the flat side. 12C27 steel holds its edge long enough that sharpening is infrequent. Hand wash and dry to preserve the blade and handle.
Compared to stamped budget bread knives, the Intempora's full tang and Sandvik steel deliver noticeably better balance and edge life. Against premium German bread knives costing twice as much, it holds its own on steel quality — and at $47.50 with a lifetime warranty, it's the value pick in the comparison.

Yes. Use a ceramic or tapered sharpening rod and work each serration individually on the flat side. The 12C27 Sandvik steel holds its edge well, so sharpening is infrequent.
No — Intempora knives are made by hand in Opinel's Portugal factory, designed by the French brand and backed for life.

Full tang construction and Sandvik 12C27 steel match features found on bread knives costing twice as much. At the current sale price with lifetime backing, it's the strongest value in its comparison class.
I bake sourdough weekly and this knife glides through the thickest crust without shredding the crumb. The curved blade means you can use a proper rocking motion and the full tang gives it real confidence. My loaves finally look as good as they taste when sliced. Best bread knife I've owned under $100.
Slices through baguettes and ciabatta cleanly and has handled a winter squash rind better than expected. The handle is simple and functional though nothing fancy. At this sale price it punches well above its weight.
Cuts crusty bread perfectly. Very happy.
My twenty-year-old serrated knife finally met its match. This Opinel is noticeably sharper out of the box and the curved profile makes long strokes easier on the wrist. It also slices tomatoes and melon like a dream. Only wish the handle had a bit more grip when wet.
It cuts bread well and I have no real complaints about performance. The blade does have a slight flex that took some adjusting to, and the handle feels a bit plasticky for the original price. At half off it's a fair deal, at full price I'd probably look elsewhere.
I've worked in bakeries and home kitchens since the eighties, and I know my way around a serrated blade. This one has proper teeth geometry, not those cheap stamped points that tear instead of cut. The Sandvik steel takes and holds an edge like the good stuff. My brioche and pain de campagne both come out picture perfect.
Bought this to slice my daughter's wedding cake and it went through three tiers of dense sponge without a single crumbly mess. Since then it's become my everyday knife for bread and tomatoes. The full tang construction feels like it will outlast me. Couldn't be happier.
Ordering experience was fine, but the knife that arrived had some visible scratches along the blade near the handle. Performance is okay once you get past the cosmetics, and the serrations do cut well. For a brand-new premium knife I expect better quality control. Exchange is in process.
