It's the best fit for home chefs who want French knife heritage and premium steel at a budget price. The Opinel Intempora paring knife (N°225 style) features a plain, fine-edged high carbon stainless blade — listings that describe it as "serrated" refer to the collection's serrated variant, but this standard Intempora paring knife ships with a smooth precision edge ideal for clean peeling and garnish work. Full specs: 12C27 Swedish stainless steel blade, full tang construction through the handle end, ergonomic polymer handle, made in Portugal.
12C27 Swedish stainless steel is one of the highest quality knife steels in the world — good edge retention, simple maintenance, and high corrosion resistance make it ideal for a high-use kitchen knife.
Peel garlic and shallots, hull strawberries, trim fat from large cuts, mince small herbs, and prune garnishes. From prep work to table service, it's a do-it-all small knife.
Pairs with any chef's knife or santoku in your block. When choosing a paring knife, look for full tang strength, corrosion-resistant steel, and balanced ergonomics — this Intempora checks all three.
Compared to Victorinox or Wüsthof paring knives, the Intempora delivers comparable 12C27 steel performance at a far lower sale price. Compared to stamped budget paring knives, full tang construction means more strength for demanding cuts.
Current price: $19.84, half off the $39.67 compare-at price — $19.83 in savings. Coupon BENCH10 adds another 10% off. Add it to a $45.00+ order for free shipping.

I use this little knife every single day — peeling apples, hulling strawberries, trimming fat off chicken thighs, mincing garlic when I'm too lazy to get the big knife out. The 12C27 steel takes a seriously sharp edge and holds it. The full tang means no wobble even after months of abuse. At under twenty bucks this is one of the best kitchen purchases I've made.
Sharp, light, comfortable. Exactly what a paring knife should be.
Bought this for my teenager who's learning to cook, because it's small and safe to control, and I ended up grabbing it constantly myself. The blade is nimble enough for detail work like deveining shrimp and coring tomatoes. The handle is smooth, hygienic, and easy to clean — no crevices gunking up. It's been through the dishwasher a few times by accident and shows no rust or damage, though I'd hand-wash to be safe. Great value from a brand I trust.
This Opinel punches way above its price point. The steel is genuinely high quality — I've had more expensive paring knives that dulled faster. It handles delicate work like segmenting oranges and trimming Brussels sprouts with total control. Half price made it an easy decision, but I'd happily pay full price knowing what I know now.
The blade is superb — sharp, thin, and precise. My only issue is that the smooth polymer handle gets a bit slippery when my hands are wet or oily, so I have to be mindful. For dry-hand peeling and trimming it's flawless. Still recommend it easily for the price.
Been using it daily for about six weeks. Edge retention is solid, it rinses clean, and it's light enough for long prep sessions. The blade is slightly more flexible than I expected but I've grown to like that for peeling. Solid buy.
Simple design, well executed. Sharp out of the box and comfortable enough for extended use. It's replaced two pricier paring knives in my drawer because it just works. Would be five stars with a touch more texture on the handle.
My fault for not checking dimensions, but the blade is shorter and narrower than my previous paring knife and it took a few days to adjust. Once I did, it actually handles fine and the steel quality is clearly above its price. If you have larger hands, just be aware it's a compact tool.
Out of the box the edge had a visible uneven spot near the heel that caught when slicing. I sharpened it myself and it performs fine now, but I shouldn't have to fix a new knife. Maybe a one-off quality control issue. The steel itself seems good once properly edged.
