The finger ring is genius. It physically stops little fingers from sliding down to the blade, so my daughter peels with total confidence and I don't hover nervously. She peels carrots for dinner every night now and is so proud of herself. Best $10 I've spent on kitchen gear.

Solid little peeler with a clever safety ring. My son needed a couple of sessions to get the angle right, but the ring guided his grip naturally. Carrots are still a challenge, potatoes are no problem.

Bought it for my granddaughter and she uses it every visit. Safe and easy.

As a Montessori teacher I've seen a lot of kids' kitchen tools, and this is one of the best. The ring teaches correct finger placement without constant correction, and the blade is genuinely functional — it actually peels, unlike some 'toy' peelers. Several of my students' parents have bought one after seeing it in class. Highly recommended for ages 4 and up.

It's a decent peeler and the safety ring is a good idea, but it's really sized for small hands. My 9-year-old finds it cramped. Fine for younger kids, less ideal for older ones.

The safety concept is great, but the blade struggled even with zucchini on ours and gave up entirely on carrots. My daughter got frustrated quickly. Maybe we got a dud, but I expected more from Opinel.
