The Opiflex locking system is a genuine improvement over the old twist-lock — one-handed operation, positive lockup, no wiggle. Ebony handle has aged beautifully over six months of carry. Perfect size for pockets.
Took a few days to get used to the locking mechanism but now I love it. Blade steel holds an edge through cardboard, rope, and apple duty. Only wish it had a pocket clip.
Opens silky, locks solid, cuts clean. Ebony is gorgeous. No regrets.
I've carried a classic Opinel for years and loved it, but the Néo6 is a clear step up. The Opiflex lock means I can open and close it with gloves on during winter dog walks, which the twist-lock never allowed. The ebony handle has developed a lovely patina and the recycled leather lanyard is a nice sustainable touch. Blade came razor sharp and has needed only one touch-up. For 50% off, this was an easy decision and it's earned permanent pocket status.
Quality is there — the lock feels trustworthy and the blade is sharp. But the handle thickness makes it a bit bulky in slim jeans pockets. Might be better for jacket or bag carry.
Mine sometimes takes two tries to disengage the lock, which gets annoying when you're mid-task. Blade and handle are genuinely nice, so I'm torn, but the mechanism feels like a step backward for me. Exchanging it to see if another unit behaves better.
Got this for my boyfriend who's into EDC gear. He compared it favorably to knives costing three times as much. The ebony and steel look premium in person.
Hike every weekend and this lives in my pack's hip belt pocket. Slices salami and cheese, whittles kindling, hasn't rusted despite rain. Light too.
No pocket clip, no bells and whistles, just a beautifully made sliver of ebony and steel that does everything I ask. The lanyard is a thoughtful touch.
Carried it three months straight. Edge retention is decent, lock inspires confidence, handle is comfortable for extended cutting. The 2.75-inch blade is legal in most places I travel, which matters to me.
