A little work of art in my pocket

I've carried an Opinel No.08 for years as my everyday knife, but this Artist Limited Edition IV is on another level. The decorated handle is genuinely beautiful — the nature motif is crisp and detailed, not some cheap print. The Virobloc lock still works perfectly and the blade came shaving sharp out of the box. For $21.25 as a Second Chance piece, this is an absolute steal. I'm honestly tempted to buy a second one just to keep on display.

Lovely knife, tiny scuff as expected

Bought this knowing it was a Second Chance item, so the small mark on the beech handle didn't bother me at all — honestly I had to hunt for it. The artwork is done by a real artist and it shows; it feels like carrying a piece of French craftsmanship. The blade action is smooth after a drop of oil on the pivot. Only reason it's not five stars is that the etching on the blade is a bit fainter than I expected from the product photos. Still a wonderful value at half price with the full warranty intact.

Perfect gift for my father

Gave this to my dad for his 70th birthday since he's used Opinels since he was a boy in the Alps. More worn than described

I understand Second Chance means minor cosmetic flaws, but mine arrived with noticeably heavier wear on the handle than 'second chance' suggested, and the artist decoration looked smudged in one corner. It still works as a knife and the steel is fine, but as a collectible it disappointed me. If you're buying purely for function, it's fine — for the limited edition aspect, maybe ask about condition first.
