My kids think the 110 dB whistle is the coolest thing ever, and honestly it's a legit survival feature. Blade is classic Opinel — sharp, thin, holds an edge. The shackle key means I can clip it to a pack. Half price made this an instant buy.

I inspected this thing carefully expecting damage and found nothing worth mentioning. The Sandvik steel came shaving sharp and the whistle is genuinely piercing. My only nitpick is the handle grooves collect pocket lint.

The blade quality is everything you'd expect from Opinel and the 12C27 steel resists rust well on kayak trips. The whistle, though, is awkward to use effectively and adds bulk to the handle. Fine knife, but I'd probably prefer the standard No.08.
