The No. 8 Pruning knife is designed for controlled pull cuts. Hold the beechwood handle firmly, unlock the Virobloc ring by rotating the collar, and draw the curved edge toward you across the stem or branch. The double-bevel curve bites cleanly on green wood.
For grafting, make one smooth slicing incision at a shallow angle – the 8cm Yatagan-shaped blade gives the precision needed for clean cambium cuts on scions and rootstock. For grape picking and flower harvesting, hook the curved toe under the stem and pull.

I use it mostly for grafting my apple trees. The stainless blade holds a nice edge and the curve makes precise cuts easy. Only wish it came a bit sharper out of the box, but that's a five-minute fix with my sharpener.

Solidly made and the steel is genuinely good, but the No. 8 is a bit small for my larger hands during long pruning sessions. Still a quality French-made tool, just know the size before you order.
Mine came out of the box with a burr along the curve and needed more honing than I expected. Works fine now, but quality control seems inconsistent. The handle and lock are nice at least.
