Wüsthof Classic White 9" Bread Knife (Model 1040201123) – the double-serrated forged bread knife for bakers and home cooks who slice through tough crusts without crushing soft interiors. Current price: $67.50, 55% off $150. Buy online and apply coupon BENCH10 for an extra 10% off.
Double-serrated blades have fine serrations on both sides, so they should be sharpened with a tapered ceramic or diamond sharpening rod that matches the serration size. Sharpen each scallop individually on the beveled side with light strokes, working tip to heel. The double-serration design cuts more cleanly and stays sharp far longer than single-serrated edges, so sharpening is infrequent. Wüsthof recommends professional sharpening for serrated edges when in doubt.
Single-serrated bread knives tear and saw; the double-serration design glides through crusts more cleanly and safely while preserving crumb structure – a decisive differentiator for sourdough and artisan loaves.
$67.50 vs $150 = $82.50 in savings. Coupon BENCH10 adds 10% more. Free shipping over $45.

Maintain the double-serrated edge with a ceramic sharpening rod on individual scallops, or use a professional service. Hand wash only to protect the forged blade and white handle.
Comparable forged double-serrated bread knives routinely sell at or above the $150 MSRP. This deal price makes premium forged bread-knife performance an affordable, purchase-ready value.
Use a tapered ceramic or diamond rod matched to the serration size and sharpen each scallop on the beveled side with light strokes. The double-serration stays sharp much longer than single serrations, and professional sharpening is recommended for best results.

Double serrations glide through crusts more cleanly and safely without crushing soft interiors – outperforming traditional single-serrated bread knives.
Yes. It excels at tomatoes, citrus, sheet cakes, and any food with a tough exterior and soft interior.
Slices through crusty sourdough like it's nothing. The double serration really does make a difference, no more crushing soft sandwich bread. The white handle matches my other Classic White knives perfectly. Worth every penny even before the discount.
No sawing, no crushed loaves. Excellent knife.
The double serrated edge cuts crusty baguettes beautifully with almost no crumbs. It took me a few loaves to find the right angle since it cuts more aggressively than my old single-serration knife. Also fantastic on tomatoes and my son's birthday cake layers. Only reason it's not five stars is that the 9-inch blade is a touch short for extra-large boules.
I'm 68 and have gone through plenty of bread knives over the decades, most of them junk. This is the first one that slices a ripe tomato without mangling it and goes through a German rye crust without effort. The forged steel feels substantial in the hand, like knives used to be made. My wife immediately claimed it for her sourdough so I may need a second one.
It's a very good bread knife, clean cuts and the white handle is easy to keep clean. But I'd hesitate to pay the full $150. At the sale price it's an easy recommendation, at list I'd shop around.
Maybe this is meant for crusty artisan loaves only, but on soft breads the double serration grabbed and tore instead of slicing clean. It works acceptably on sourdough. For a knife this expensive I expected it to handle everything, so it's going back.
