Nobody believes this thing folds until they see it. Nearly twenty inches open with a proper working blade — it's genuinely functional, not just a gimmick. I use it for cutting watermelons and big squash, and the Virobloc lock is reassuring on a blade this size. The beechwood handle is beautifully finished. Pure joy of a knife.

The build quality is exactly what you'd expect from Opinel and it's startlingly sharp for something this big. It's just genuinely heavy to carry around all day, so mine mostly lives as a display piece that comes out for parties and big kitchen jobs.
I bought this as a novelty and ended up genuinely using it. It slices melons, loaves of bread, even trimmed the ribs off a brisket. There's something wonderful about a classic French design scaled up to absurd proportions — and it still locks and folds flawlessly.
The knife itself is impressive, but the Virobloc collar on mine was very stiff and required pliers with a cloth to turn. A little wax loosened it up, but out of the box it was frustrating. Check yours immediately when it arrives.
