The blade is fully hot-forged from X50CrMoV15 stainless steel — a German-style kitchen steel prized for edge retention, corrosion resistance, and easy sharpening.
Trim fat, slice small produce, hull strawberries, peel garnishes, and handle precision prep. The short blade and full-tang balance give confident control for both beginner cooks and chefs.
Hand wash and dry immediately — never dishwash. Sharpen on a whetstone to maintain the forged edge; a natural Lombardi stone is an affordable add-on that pairs well.

Trimming fat, slicing small fruits and vegetables, hulling, peeling, and detail garnish work.
This parer came scary sharp out of the box. The full tang gives it a heft that cheap paring knives completely lack, and the beech handle is comfortable even after twenty minutes of trimming. The bolster transitions cleanly into the blade. It's become my most-used knife even though I own fancier ones.
I cook professionally and I'm picky about my knives. The hot-forged X50CrMoV15 steel holds an edge through a full dinner service of garnish work. Full tang, proper rivets, no gaps in the handle. Opinel quietly makes serious kitchen knives.
Cuts tomatoes paper-thin and takes a wonderful edge on my whetstone. Only note: the beech handle shouldn't go in the dishwasher, which the listing does mention. Hand wash and dry and it'll last decades.
Nothing wrong with the quality — the steel is great and it's genuinely sharp. The 3-inch blade and slim handle just feel cramped in my large hands during long prep sessions. Better suited to smaller hands or precise detail work.
Half the price it used to be and honestly worth full price. Peels apples in one long ribbon, hulls strawberries cleanly, minces garlic without sticking. The balance point right at the bolster makes it feel like an extension of your hand.
Bought one, loved it, bought two more as gifts. Hold an edge, easy to sharpen, look great. Done.
The blade itself is excellent, no complaints there. But mine came with a raised splinter near one of the rivets that caught my thumb until I sanded it down myself. For a knife at this price point the QC should be better. Function is fine now, but first impressions matter.
In my day a good paring knife cost a week's grocery money and you kept it forever. This one reminds me of those old knives — forged, full tang, real wood. It peels and trims like a dream and I expect my grandchildren will still be using it. Buy it before the sale ends.
