Opinel Néo6 Black Oak Everyday Carry Pocket Knife pairs a striking black anodized blade and locking ring with a rich oak wood handle, built for commuting, exploring, and daily tasks. At $27.50 – 50% off the $55 compare-at price – it's the affordable modern Opinel to buy online today.
The Néo6 is a compact, non-aggressive everyday utility pocket knife. Knife carry laws vary by city and state – many jurisdictions allow small folding utility knives like the Néo6, while others restrict blade length or locking mechanisms. Check your local regulations before carrying. Its slim, pocket-friendly profile makes it one of the most discreet legal-carry options where small folding knives are permitted.
The black anodized finish on the blade and locking ring is a durable surface treatment. Like any coated blade, high-friction contact with hard objects can wear the coating at edges over years of use, but normal EDC tasks preserve the finish well. Hand wash and dry to maximize coating life.
Néo6 introduces Opinel's new Opiflex blade-locking system: an intuitive mechanism that secures the blade open (and closed) with simple, confident engagement – modernizing Opinel's classic rotating collar for safer, faster one-hand-friendly use.
Compared with the classic Opinel No.08 VRI, the Néo6 offers a sleeker modern silhouette, coated blade, and the new Opiflex lock. Compared with premium EDC folders, it delivers comparable daily utility at a fraction of the price – especially at this 50% discount.

Sleek, sharp, locks solid. Best EDC I've owned at this price.
I carry this every day and get compliments constantly. The black anodized blade doesn't show scratches and the oak handle has aged beautifully. The Opiflex lock gives me confidence—it has never once slipped on me, even during heavier cutting tasks like breaking down boxes.
Opens packages, cuts cord, trims zip ties—does it all. The blade took a few days to break in for smooth one-hand closing but now it's fine. Happy with the purchase.
Bought this for my father's 60th and he carries it everywhere now. He says the lock is the best he's used on a folding knife in decades of owning them.
Quality is there and the black finish is nice. It's just a bit heavier in the pocket than my old knife, and the blade needs frequent touch-ups with hard use. Still, a fair knife for the money.
Third Opinel I've owned and the Néo6 is the most refined. The oak handle is warm in the hand even in cold weather, unlike my G10 knives. Lockup is rock solid.
Really enjoy this knife daily. The pocket clip isn't included which surprised me, but it carries fine loose. Blade steel holds a decent edge.
The knife looks great but the lock was stiff out of the box and needed cleaning and oiling before it worked smoothly. It's better now, but that shouldn't be necessary on a new knife.
I wanted something that didn't look tactical or intimidating for work. This fits the bill perfectly—elegant black oak, quiet operation, and it cuts whatever I need. Six months in and no complaints whatsoever.
Bought this during the sale and it's honestly worth close to full price. The Opiflex mechanism feels premium and the blade came hair-popping sharp. Would buy again.
