WÜSTHOF Classic White 5" Hollow-Ground Santoku Knife is the agile forged santoku for cooks with smaller hands or anyone who prefers a compact blade for mincing herbs, chopping vegetables and fruit, and prepping fish and meat. Priced at $49.50, down from $99.00 — 50% off. Buy online at Cutter's Bench and apply coupon BENCH10 for an extra 10% off your purchase.
Sharpen on a whetstone or with a WÜSTHOF handheld or electric sharpener at the blade's factory bevel angle; the hollow-ground indentations reduce food sticking but don't change the primary edge angle. Avoid glass, ceramic, or metal cutting boards to preserve the PEtec edge, and hand wash only. The 58° HRC steel holds its edge roughly twice as long as previous models, so sharpening is needed less often.
The santoku profile excels at up-and-down chopping: mincing herbs, dicing onions, slicing cucumber, cubing chicken, and portioning fish. The 5" blade offers agility for smaller hands and tight cutting boards.
The Classic White series carries every feature food lovers and professionals rely on from the best-selling Classic line — 55 production steps, over 20 quality checks — with a refined white handle. Compared to the 7" santoku, this 5" version trades reach for control; compared to stamped santokus, forged single-piece construction delivers superior balance and edge life.
Save $49.50 — half the retail price — plus 10% more with coupon BENCH10. Pair with a paring knife to pass $45.00 for free shipping. A rare discount on current-generation Solingen forged cutlery.

Yes — at $49.50 with the current 50% discount plus the BENCH10 coupon, it matches entry pricing on stamped knives while delivering forged Solingen quality with double the edge retention.
I wanted a knife that looked as good as it performs and this delivers on both counts. The hollow grind releases thin cucumber and potato slices instantly instead of them sticking to the blade. It's compact enough for my smaller hands while still having real Wüsthof heft. My favorite knife in the drawer now.
The 5-inch size is ideal for quick weeknight prep when pulling out a big chef's knife feels like overkill. Mincing garlic, dicing an onion, slicing chicken breasts, it handles all of it with ease. The edge was scary sharp out of the box and has held up for three months with light honing. Great purchase at half off.
Blade performance is everything you'd expect from forged Solingen steel. The white composite handle looks fantastic but I've noticed it shows faint stains from turmeric and tomato, so wipe it promptly. Still one of my most-used knives.
Sharp, balanced, beautiful. Zero complaints.
No fault in the craftsmanship at all, it's genuinely excellent quality. I just underestimated how much I rely on a longer blade; five inches feels cramped when I break down a whole chicken or halve a melon. For herb work and vegetables it's superb. Buy the size that matches your cooking style.
I've been a chef's knife loyalist for twenty years and only bought this as a gift, then used it once and ordered myself one. The rocking motion with the hollow edge is incredibly efficient for herbs and the tip is handy for detail work. Food slides right off the blade. Converted.
Bought this for myself and within a week my wife had claimed it because it's lighter and easier for her to control than my 8-inch chef's knife. It chops onions beautifully and cleanup is easy. I'm ordering a second one so we both stop fighting over it. That's as good a review as I can give.
Gave this to my mom for her birthday and she calls me every few weeks just to tell me something new she's chopped with it. The white handle matched her kitchen renovation exactly. She says it's the nicest knife she's ever owned and she's nearly seventy, so that's saying something. Worth every penny.
Cuts beautifully and the hollow grind genuinely reduces sticking. Both a plus and a minus: the polished blade and white handle look incredible on day one but show every water spot and fingerprint. A quick wipe keeps it looking new, just be ready for the maintenance. Performance-wise, flawless.
I was excited for this knife but on the very first carrot I felt a snag, and inspection revealed a small chip in the edge. Maybe I got a lemon, but hard vegetables aren't extreme use for a santoku. Customer service offered an exchange so I'll update if the replacement holds up better.
