Opinel No.07 My First Opinel Folding Knife with Sheath – Round-Tip Safety Blade, Beechwood Handle, Gift Box

Bought this for my 8-year-old's first camping trip and she took to it right away. The round tip means I don't hold my breath every time she opens it, and the Virobloc lock keeps the blade secure while she works. The little sheath is a nice touch and the beechwood handle fits her small hands perfectly. She's already whittled her first stick and couldn't be prouder.

Solid little knife. Kid loves it.

This has been great for teaching my son safe knife handling around the campsite. The round tip really does take the fear out of those early lessons. The lock ring is stiff at first, which I actually appreciate for safety, though it took him a few tries to operate it. Only wish is that the sheath were leather instead of the synthetic material, but at this price it's hard to complain.

Nice size for a child's hand and the safety tip is genuinely reassuring. Mine came out of the box needing a touch-up on a strop before it would cut paper cleanly. Ten minutes with a stone sorted it out, so still a good value, but worth knowing before gifting.

I've carried an Opinel myself for decades, so when my grandkids showed interest in carving, this was the obvious choice. The gift box presentation made it feel special when they opened them, and the sheath means the knives ride safely in their rucksacks. Watched my grandson carefully cut a notch in a walking stick last weekend with total concentration. Traditional French quality at a friendly price. These will last long enough to hand down someday.
