Wüsthof Classic 5" Tomato Knife, Black – precision forged in Solingen, Germany – slices tomatoes, citrus, and small fruits cleanly without crushing. Purchase online at Cutter's Bench for $55.25, 52% off the $115.00 compare-at price. Coupon code BENCH10 adds another 10% in savings.
Serrated edges need targeted care: use a tapered ceramic or diamond sharpening rod that fits each scallop, sharpening the beveled side of each serration from the inside at matching angles. Sharpen only the beveled flat side; the scalloped peaks do the cutting. Hone rarely – serrations dull far slower than straight edges, and PEtec sharpening extends that further.
A 10–12mm tapered ceramic rod is the right sharpening tool for this knife. Avoid steel rods and pull-through sharpeners, which round the serration points.
Tomatoes, citrus, kiwi, stone fruit, and crusty-skinned produce. The fork tip doubles as a serving pick for cheese plates and salads.
Forged Classic construction beats stamped serrated utility knives on balance and edge retention. At $55.25 with 52% off and coupon BENCH10, this is the affordable deal on a premium serrated knife. Orders over $45.00 ship free.

I cannot tell you how many tomatoes I've mangled with chef's knives over the years. This thing glides through tomato skins like they're not even there, and the fork tip picks up the slices neatly. The serration is fine enough that it doesn't tear the flesh. Best sandwich prep upgrade I've made in years.
Sounds gimmicky until you use it. Picking up tomato slices for a BLT without a separate fork is such a small thing but it's wonderful. Blade is full tang and hefty for a tomato knife.
Sharp serrations, comfortable Classic handle, clean cuts on tomatoes and citrus. Wish it were dishwasher safe but I know better than to put good knives in there anyway. Happy with it.
Bought it for tomatoes, stay for the grapefruit. The fork tip lifts segments out perfectly.
It's a well-made tomato knife — that's exactly what it is. Don't expect it to do general knife duty. Serrations will eventually dull and Wüsthof sharpening won't help much there. For the sale price though, it's fair value.
Great on tomatoes obviously, but I reach for it daily to slice sourdough without crushing it. The 5 inch length is just right for control.
Disappointed to find a chip near the tip on arrival. Customer service sorted a replacement quickly and the second one has been flawless, so five stars for the knife itself, two for the QC experience.
She's been cooking for fifty years and immediately asked where I got it. Enough for me.
I had a $8 grocery store tomato knife for years and honestly thought they were all the same. They are not. The forge quality here shows in the balance and the way it bites into the skin without any starting pressure. Classic handle is the same shape as my other Wüsthof knives so my hand just knows where it is.
